		<description>I know that this is an old post but ... I love it.  I&#039;m hosting an &quot;eat local&quot; challenge on my blog (http://reducefootprints.blogspot.com/2009/06/change-world-wednesdays_24.html) and it has been very interesting.  I originally thought ... no problem ... there are tons of fresh veggies growing in the area.  But then I started to look at things like spices, oils, grains, etc. ... and not a lot of those things were grown nearby.  The fact that I&#039;m vegan offered new challenges ... my usual protein sources aren&#039;t grown close to home.  So, I guess the moral of the story (or challenge) is to eat as close to home as possible while maintaining one&#039;s health.
